Yup!
The 25-06 does not have Lawrence's throat, twist, RPM and geometry to make it as a hunting round. Very few things have a throat that can guzzle kock like Larry!

My 25-06 was made by a pretty good Elk hunter, Iver Henriksen. It’s marked 25 Niedner. I’ve never killed an elk, but I’m sure the 25-06 will do the trick with a well made bullet and good shot placement. ![[Linked Image]](http://a63.tinypic.com/309tzqw.jpg) Lovely rifle.

What you refuse to admit to is that just about any bullet under 200 yards will kill a deer. You don't always need super high BC super high sectional density excetera excetera excetera. Now that said your personal choice can be whatever you wanted to. If you want to 6.5 Creedmoor with 147 bullet doing 2750 feet per second fine so be it. But a 308 with a 150 round nose will kill a deer under 200 yards just as well. So you can't go around saying everybody is stupid because they don't particularly agree 100% with your opinion.

The fact is that a 25-06 is a great deer round. Very easy to shoot and simply hammers deer. The kids start shooting my Howa 25-06 as soon as there arms are long enough to reach the trigger. The youngest is 8 so that wont be much longer for her. So far we have about six deer and two antelope with mine and I have never found it wanting. We shoot most of our deer with a 20 gauge shotgun anyway.
I shoot 80 grain TTSX at 3690 with 57 grains H100V. An easy load, not max. With the available case volume there, I find no reason to hot rod the cartridge, it goes plenty fast.
Last year I loaded up some 117 Sierra BT with 7977 and we shot a couple deer with those. I thought they worked just fine. I have no idea the speed on those because I shot my chronograph with a 6.5 Grendel early that summer. Like I said though the 25-06 goes plenty fast so I was not worried about the speed.
