I'll be the contrary voice and say IMR 4895. If the apocalypse hits (e.g. another Democrat as president) and all a fellow could find was 4350 and 4895 of either IMR or H persuasion he wouldn't be too handicapped at all across a wide range of chamberings.

I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I thought it would be H-4895 - saw someones thread the other day IMR 4895 is quite a bit more temp. sensitive . Reckon I'll get a mug or a jug of H .

For my battery which consists of .257 Roberts, .30-06 and .35 Whelen I would have to say IMR 4064. I have very accurate loads for all three that use IMR 4064 although I also use IMR 4350 for all three too. RL-15 and IMR 3031 get honorable mention too.

Another very versitile power is H4831.
With H4895, and H4831, you cover a lot of ground.
I think I could achieve good loads for every rifle I shoot with just those two powders.

A powder that can be used in many popular cartridges - max loads - low recoils loads for kids , subsonic loads ? W748 has been my go to powder for 223, .30-30, 308, 32 Win. Spl., and 8x57. This is so much of a problem that I'm looking at substitutes for some so that I can save the W748 for those that really need it. The 223 and .30-30 look promising for changes that I haven't made yet, and maybe also the 32 Win. Spl.

I thought it would be H-4895 - saw someones thread the other day IMR 4895 is quite a bit more temp. sensitive . Reckon I'll get a mug or a jug of H . If you haven't worked with the IMR version a lot, that would be the safe bet.... then again, I've worked a lot with both... I'd be buying the IMR version.... in fact I have.. I'd bet I have 30 lbs worth of it or more....

I would agree with what I shoot. Yep. I've used it in .223 rem all the way up to 9.3x62mm and 375 H&H.. From "mice to moose", it's going to be hard to find a more "versatile" powder...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
