I see there are several posts from Citizens of NZ. I'm curious how do you feel about your countries gun laws? I see your PM stating the laws must change. How do you feel about that?
As usual every time there is a mass shooting people blame the dreaded gun. From what I read, before the attack a law abiding and legal gun owner. So now the rest of the legal gun owner's will most likely suffer due to his act.
You're not wrong Alabama. There will be serious repercussions for law abiding legal gun owners here. NZ has one of the world's highest firearm ownership per capita. Military style semi autos are easily obtained legally as long as you pass the 'fit and proper' definition and have the required endorsement to the general A- Category firearms licence. Politicians have to blame someone and much of the media here is anti-firearm. Our Prime Minister, Jacinda Adern, stated the day of the Christchurch shooting that our gun laws will change.

What area are you in Zeissman? Central North Island near Lake Taupo, Jim. Went deer hunting yesterday morning and think I'll go fly fishing this afternoon. Lots of good fishing. My late Grandmother in Law was an expert fisherwoman. Even wrote a story about her in the Mackenzie Muster. Her favorite spot was Lake Opuha. It was her families land that was flooded when the dam was built, probably why she like the area so much. I spent a week there getting my FIL's jet boat running. It was old then...but he was proud of it. It had been tuned by Hamilton himself. I have not been around the North Island much....all my family is South Island folk. Good luck on the fishing. Thanks Jim. The South Island is a great place for the lover of the great outdoors and even less populated than the North Island. I'd retire down there somewhere if it wasn't for my family up here.

Ive never in my life believed the rhetoric that the US was heading for another civil war.
In the past 5 years I've come to believe it is. It will be a combination of civil unrest from the left (sound familiar) and foreign influence. Reminds me of our last civil war though the issues sure have changed a great deal. Talk about a 180!!!
The sad thing for honest freedom loving people is there is no place left to go. We either fight and die here or foreverl be slaves to the liberal socialist @sshole globalists.

What are some of the last names of the owners of your major media outlets? I likely will not be surprised. I know Faifax Media has a finger or two in the various pies. Rupert Murdoch has interests in Fairfax. Not sure about the others. I think a lot of young journalists here consider it quite trendy and cool to have liberal leanings. Of course, it depends on how they were raised by their parents and then later the exposure to university lecturers.

Sounds like you NZ'ers think you have a special group of muslims - have you seen what's happening in Europe ?
Must be some of that magic soil I've read about - once your muslims stand of NZ real estate they change to great people .
The word NAIVE comes to mind .
I'd like to know the number of muslims in NZ who are working and supporting themselves 100% - bet it's real low since they seem to be very parasitic . Most non white immigrants here are wealthy Asians so basically, the Muslims haven't got much of a presence and so far they haven't caused any trouble. Sure, they're only in small numbers here so that may be why. Don't know how many of them are on welfare. Personally, I don't know any, have only ever met a few of them and don't think there are any living in my small forestry town. Knowing my fellow countrymen though, I'm sure most of them aren't too enamoured with the multiculturalism idealism. Most NZ'ers are well aware of the problems large Muslim immigration has caused in other western countries. Contrary to that, there are plenty, my ex wife included, who are very naïve about the Islamic world. She, of course, is a dyed in the wool democrat (called Labour party here) and thinks we should take in even more refugees from the cesspools of the world. I divorced her years ago. There is a lot of good reading and humorous and intelligent stuff by many on this forum. What is also apparent though, to even a blind man, is the extreme level of paranoia and hate that some posters have. Not just hate for muzzies but hate for just about everything. Zeissman , Thanks for the info. hopefully the numbers of muslims will stay tolerable . Smart move getting rid of the liberal wife , if the world let women lead the way we'd all be as screwed up as the countries of europe with female leaders .  We are being invaded by mexico and other south americans as you probably know . Our globalist media promotes it 100% and we have WAY TOO MANY LIBERAL IDIOTS here who think it's OK . A white person here could go Live on social media and shoot a bunch of MS13 gang members who killed his family and the leftist & media would be screaming for the blood of the white guy & gun confiscation . I would say 70-80% of the media in the US leans anti-gun. The US is one demorcrat president away from having guns laws that we never ever in our dreams imagined would happen. The US in the near future is in for a reckoning between left and right. The lines are drawn and there is no middle ground. That's the main problem now its either my way or nothing! It unfortunate one or two bad apples spoil the whole bunch. I live in the very pro- gun state of Alabama and can carry openly, defend my property, buy as many firearms as I desire, don't have to have any type of registration or even have to go through the background check system to purchase a firearm as long as I possess a VALID concealed carry permit that costs me $25 per year and good for up to 5 years at a time. I fear all of that will soon end. The anti gun climate is ripe to lose our 2A freedoms.

Tired of the "white" is bad narrative. The way they were talking I would have been led to believe every muslim in the world was persecuted and they have never done anything but love thy neighbor!!

Not sure how many saw the video of the shooting. But what would concern me much more if I lived in NZ would be why no police showed up. The guy was in there for about 8 minutes. Even had time to walk back to his vehicle and retrieve another gun after the initial gun failed.

Not sure how many saw the video of the shooting. But what would concern me much more if I lived in NZ would be why no police showed up. The guy was in there for about 8 minutes. Even had time to walk back to his vehicle and retrieve another gun after the initial gun failed.
That's a fair comment. The context is that it is our first act of mass terrorism and maybe we simply were not prepared. Its a big wake up call for us. Lots of questions are being asked.
