So I bought Lapua brass in 6mm creedmoor. My question is when I try to seat Federal Match Small rifle primers it is a bitc!!!!!!!!! I tried some small rifle primers in WSR and they went way better. So why would this be? Is there anything I can do to make the federal seat better. And as for force I am pressing into the primer, I can see the pin mark on the primer. Thanks and as always HAPPY HUNTING

According to my reading there is considerable variation in primer diameter and height, even among lots, not just brands. I suppose you could try a uniforming tool, or just shoot 'em. They will get looser with use (reminds me of the old line from Are You Being Served? about too-long pants and coats riding up "with wear").

If the depth of the pockets is the problem, then a uniformer should definitely help.

I have found the Winchester primers to be easier to seat indicating they are smaller in diameter. Do you think it would pay to run a primer pocket uniformer in the brass?
