I know there and many low end choices out there but I don't keep up with them. I have been fortunate to be able to get high end scopes so I don't know much about this need. Got a friend needing to find scope priced up to $400 with maybe reticle with BDC markings etc for holdover since this money won't buy good dialable scope. He wants to be able to shoot this for hunting up to 500 yds. It's for a Rem 700 in 308. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

SWFA for a dialer. A strict budget of $400 will mean a fixed power. The 3-9 can be had for $450 several times a year.
I've been shooting my .280 out to 500 with a Razor LH 1.5-8 (G4 reticle) with very good results. I'd also look at the Meopro BDC 3.5-10, check with Doug). I think those are the two best $400 deals right now.

FYI, We started out with about 500 of these Athlon 1-6x24's and as of this morning we are down to less than 70. Thanks for all the support on this sale

Midas for $220 is a crazy good deal. For the OP, if you like BDC reticles in SFP scopes, Doug's Meopta 3.5-10x44 for $400 is your best bet. Personally, I prefer reticle with consisent hashmark spacing. They are easy enough to use as a BDC and if conditions change, I know exactly what each on is. With that in mind, I would suggest you take a look at Meopta MeoPro 3-9x42 with MMD reticle: https://cameralandny.com/shop/brand...0136-00e4-00163e90e196?variation=1897932ILya
