I have fallen heir to a bunch of 416 Rem Mag reloads (among others!). I have pulled the bullets and intend to sell the components at an upcoming gun show. Now the problem is that all the powders were dutifuly listed as Reloader 15. Some of it has dark red marker grains and some of it doesn't. I have compared them under a good magnifier and they look identicle except for the color flakes. I have about 2 1/2 LBS of the stuff and would like to use it in my Springfield. I have always used Winchester and Dupont so don't have a history with the Reloader stuff. This stuff was loaded in the early and mid 90's. Does any one know any history of color identifiers in Reloader powders??

Sh*t can it, or better yet sprinkle it in the garden. 2 pounds of powder is cheaper then a new gun, or a new eye. It isn't worth messing with.

Certain consensus here. Scrap it..............

If you didn't write it don't believe it and sometimes not even then. Not worth the risk. Lose it.

Old powder makes good garden fertilizer; but it makes lousy reloading material. Really, truly, honestly -- please dump it out. Do not be tempted to save a few dollars by using powder you didn't take out of a can you bought new.
As everyone else has said -- it's not worth your gun, your eyes, or your life.

Go look at your gun, now picture it in 20 pieces with a couple of those pieces embedded in your forehead. Not worth it. Rick

I disagree. Don't put it on yer garden et all. Flush it down the toilet! Organic is best when it comes to gardens.

I can't remember who it was that was mentioning that he had some powder that he needed to get rid of, and though to sprinkle it over his wife's flower bed next to the patio out back.
Well, an evening or two later, guests were over and one happened to toss a cigarette into the flower bed and WHOOSH <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> !
Ruined the flowers, and scared the hell out of the guests... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I prefer the SAAMI desrcibed method of pouring into little piles with a small trail poured a couple of feet away from the pile and toss a match on the trail like ole Wiley Coyote did!!
A quick 2' fire and all is well <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I concur with all--do not load the powder. Of course, you're talking to the guy who ONCE had two bottles of powder on the bench while loading at the range. Both bottles got trashed, becuase I couldn't remember if I had mixed the powders. Usually, you only do that once.

Well...I did WATER the garden after I poured the powder on it...
The exploding flowerpots after a quantity of adult beverages would have been a pretty sight...
After all the powder smoke I've breathed over the years, I don't imagine mixing a little in with the tomatoes is going to hurt me much...
