After waiting for over 3 months to get a chance to run to the range, I finally got a little free time today at lunch.
How's a 3-shot group of 0.85" at 100 yards sound? This is with Federal Premium 100gr Nosler Partitions. To say I was pleased would be an understatement.
I keep hearing about these problematic Kimbers but both of mine have been excellent.

I've never had a problem with any of my Kimber rifles, and I have more than a couple.

One 3 shotter group under and inch is a good start, 3 more groups of the same fashion and I would say you've got something to be happy with.
Time must of been short to only get in one group...grins

I loaded up some IMR 4831 to get rid of the almost empty can as I never got going with that powder. Wouldn't you know it but the last three shots from the 243 Montana went into one hole at 100 yds shooting the 95 gr Nosler Combined Tech. bullet!
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

Dad's got a Kimber that shoots very nice groups. He must be flinching 'em in there.

I had a model 84 in .308cal that always shot under an inch at 100yds if I did my part. I never had any problems with that little model 84 CLASSIC. I read on this site often that a KIMBER is alot of rifle for the money, but it will probably need a little "tweaking". Maybe I just got lucky with mine but I think a rifle that costs as much as a KIMBER shouldnt need tweakimg to make it shoot accurately, and I would never buy a rifle in this price range that I thought I would have to work on to make it shoot well................547.

my kimber put 5 shots in a row in a warm day into a .455 group with no waiting. 22-250. love it!

Yep, too short, but at least I got to go. It's probably been 4 months since I fired a shot out of anything. Of course I could have spent more time on the Kimber yesterday but I wanted to squeeze off a couple of rounds from my carry gun yesterday as well. -Dan

I really like the Sakos, but can't get a new 75 or 85 for $900-$1050. The Kimber's stock and safety trump Sako.
I want the Sako 85 wood/blue rifle badly.

Clarification: when I think Kimber, I think "Kimber Montana". I would rather have the Montana if going stainless/synthetic and the Sako if going wood/blue.

Not me....The Montana is too light for me, has no feel. And the wood Sakos are great rifles, but a bit bulky. The Finnlight is just right....Bought 2 with rings/bases for $1200 each, that's pretty close to Montana prices....

-Dan Congrats on the group. I just took mine out to the range for the first real shooting this weekend, even though it was pretty windy. Put three different loads through the 7short Montana. First two were 1.5" - 1.75" 4 shot groups at 100 meters. Last load had a three shot .875 and 4 shot at an inch. I have three more loads that I hope to try this week if weather cooperates. Hopefully have a great recipe for Montana bear in a couple weeks and then again for BC bears in 6 weeks.

Guess I am close enough to the border to start counting in meters.  As for tags, still waiting on WY, NM and a couple tough draw Utard hunts. With ND, BC, AK and most likely SD tags in my pocket, I won't be crushed if I am full for the year.  Good luck with your draws, lick.  Good news, you don't need to have a sub-MOA to kill a decent critter.

i recieved a Kimber Montana in 260 yesterday......feedings a lil rough. going to take it out of the stock this weekend and see if there are any burs causing it........trying to decide if i put a scope on with the windage bases or wait till after the first of the month and order talleys.......also need a scope.....wife says i cant have my 6x36 Leupy back but shes out of town this weekend and wont be home to protect its perch on top of the Sucks 7
