Sold the Remington before McWoody arrived... stock still new, I've never placed an action in it.

Your stock is a "Remington Hunter" not an HTG or "McMillan Hunter".

Just an FYI and a free bump.

Actually I think it is the Varmint model? No cheekpiece. Wished it was inlet for standard Remington bottom metal. I assume by M4 that is Badger?

That stock came from Bergara. I can tell from the sticker. That’s a Bergara part number. It’s a McMillan Remington Varmint pattern. These are inletted for Badger M4 SA bottom metal, which is expensive ($350) and only comes in steel in the white. These are inletted for Bergara’s original Premier action which is very close to a M700, but not exact. The barrel channel is much larger than a Rem varmint/sendero contour. It’s cut for a Bergara #7 standard Varmint, this is Bergara’s own contour. Bergara is no longer selling barrels in this contour. When they first got started they sold contoured barrel blanks. They’ve ceased that business.

For a short time, Bergara had line of custom rifles. One was the Bergara Custom Rifle - BCR24 Varmint Hunter. IIRC this rifle listed for around $4k. This was the stock they used for that rifle. When they eliminated the Custom Rifle line, Bergara clearanced out their remaining McMillan stock inventory. According to McMillan, these were delivered as blanks and inletted by Bergara’s custom shop.

I backed out on buying the stock after verifying on-line this stock is made for Bergara and a larger barrel then a Sendero. 😎
