Winchester is recalling some of their .22 wildcat and xpert ammunition with lot numbers containing the letters XN, YA, YB, YC. They say the ammo may contain double powder charges and might damage your gun or you. It's posted on the front page of www.winchester.com if you want to check it out.

I'll have to check my lot #. Last Saturday I had shot a Wildcat that burst through the edge of the rim. The case head fell out when I opened the bolt, and the case is stuck in the rifle. I got a face full of gas, and a hand full of soot too. I thank God I was wearing glasses.

I have a partial box that is likely several years old that includes the YA code. This could be a recall that goes back a long time.

We were out shooting this past weekend also and had one Winchester LR fail to fire twice, (same round), and just threw it away. Don't think was a Wildcat as I remember it being copper plated.

Hmmmm? Gonna' have ta' look at some of those loaded mags.

Bumping my own post.

This is a NEW recall issued 4/18/2007.

It's NOT the old one that's been on the boards for a year or two.

You may want to take another look at what you have. wink

The code on the bad one I had is YA, and I bought it no more than a month ago. The store had been out of Wildcats, my prefered ammo, for several months, therefore I believe it wasn't old stock.
