I have a 99f in 308 with a tang saftey. For some reason the safety gets triggerd ot engages after each time the rifle is being fired. What would be causing this ? Is it just the safety spring ? How hard is it to swap out the safety spring ? Any tricks or suggestions to fix it ?

Safety problems make me very nervous.

I would suggest finding a qualified gunsmith who is familiar with Savage 99s, and especially the tang safety version.

I have run across two tang safety guns with safety issues. One was a minor fix, the other was more involved. On both occasions, the above was utilized and I got confidence back in the guns.
