We are a fly over state full of conservatives. They don’t give a [bleep] about us. We help everybody else after a disaster, then they give us a big fugg you when we need it
I will throw this out, people are going to freak when the groceries and other commodities spike like crazy. The main line between Chitcago and Cheyenne that goes through Omaha, Columbus, grand island ,Kearny and North Platte for Union Pacific has been closed to all rail traffic for 2 weeks. BNSF just got their southern track to Kearney open today. The UP track below moves 300,000 cars a year out of the state and 290,000 cars terminated in state. Beef, beans, corn all gone. Fields won’t be ready for a couple of years from flood and we got more rain in the forecast after an additional 1.5” rain yesterday.
Pic for example.

It is fester, thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

https://ktiv.com/2019/03/20/nebraska-flood-damage-losses-estimated-to-hit-1-4-billion-2/

LINCOLN, Nebraska (AP) – Officials say recent flooding in parts of Nebraska has caused nearly $1.4 billion in estimated losses and damage.

Gov. Pete Ricketts said Wednesday that roads, levees and other infrastructure have sustained an estimated $449 million in damage.

Ricketts says more than 2,000 homes and 341 businesses have been damaged or destroyed in the flood. The damage to private homes and businesses has reached $85 million so far, while farmers have experienced an estimated $400 million in cattle losses and $440 million in crop losses.

Ricketts stressed that the numbers are preliminary and subject to change. The numbers were included in the governor’s request for expedited assistance from the federal government.

The governor says 74 of Nebraska’s 93 counties and 85 of its cities are in a declared state of emergency.

The floodwaters have also damaged hundreds of homes in other Midwestern states and been blamed for three deaths.

So far, we are in between the Loup and Platte Rivers, Platte is the closest about 1.5 miles south. It got to half a mile from the house. Couldn’t get out for 8 days due to the roads. Problem is 1.5” of rain yesterday and predicting 1-3” of rain wed.night and Thursday, then another 1-3” of snow and sleet Friday night through Saturday.
The area I am in averaged 9-10” rain between mid March and May first the last 3 years. We will see, April fools day last year I had 3.5” in 24 hours and 5.5” over 3 days.
Thanks again.

Was it Nebraska? or South Dakota that had a big kill off of cattle from a late season snow storm 3-4 years ago??

Yeah, it's never flooded on the prairie before. The sky is falling, the sky is falling. But it's self-correcting. This guy says all the cows died, think of how much better life will be without the cow farts.
