las

You are the ONLY person I've read on this forum to say, " And a pussy-cat to shoot with less felt recoil than most .30-06 of 7 to 8 lb. "

However you also say, " Now I've a Decelerator pad on it, and it is Mag-Na-Ported. "

Those 2 things would make a Drastic diff. I'm glad you were able to 'pussify' it tho. laugh
That's not a slam at you, it's just a play off your own description.

The weight of the scope, sling, cheek piece, and 3 extra rounds ain't bad either.

I still don't shoot more than 6 rounds at a time off the bench tho.

The 17 inch barreled '06 Ru77 tang is a whole 'nuther cat! smile

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Not yet, I'm trying to decide between the 338 and a whitworth 375 HH. I think I may be able to get my money back easier on the whitworth after Iplay with it. I dont need either one but I'm a rifle Looney I guess.

I had one....it had been bedded. It shot partitions and 250g SGK into an inch. However, it routinely shot one whole groups with 200g ballistic tips. Funny thing about that rifle was the barrel was messed up...it went up and it the right if you looked through it. Indeed it was so bad it was impossible to bore sight.... Always amazed me how well it shot:). I killed a truckload of elk and deer with it before trading it away for a 340wby.
