All public policy has a cascading set of intended, and unintended consequences. This report has a surprising amount of truth about the unintended consequences of progressive stupidity. It's about an hour long, but I found it worth the time to watch. You may not agree with their conclusions about the solution to the problem, but I thought they did a fair job of describing some of the human costs of the problem.

I can’t wait until it’s DEAD and after the corpse is cremated we can start over. The beauty that was once Seattle, a city on the bay sandwiched between 2 mountain ranges and illuminated by Mount Rainier is a beautiful canvas from which to rebuild while hopefully remembering the destruction and misery that progressives and their policies brought. Generally speaking though liberals are too stupid and self absorbed to realize that THEY alone caused the destruction of an entire region that was thriving before they crawled onto the main stage. I fear that the only way to change their minds is to liberate them from their skull at 3000fps.

Ever notice how all the once nice areas that have been turned into chitholes are all run by liberals? But it's ALWAYS someone or something else's fault. Yet supposedly intelligent people keep re-electing the same azz wipes that cause the problem in the first place. I think the "dumbing down" of America has come into bloom. What the hell ever became of ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS ????

As we all know, the problem is, once the LIEberals turn an area into a shiythole (aka Democratic panacea), they relocate to another place and start the whole process over again. Because they know best. Recently, some Cidiot moved from Manhattan, bought a farm near where I hunt in the Catskill mountains of NY, and within a year tried to run for a local government position. All promises of “green”, “bike lanes”, and such. Fortunately, he failed miserably.

Like Locusts, New Yorkers (city people) to the mountains (PA, NY), Kalifornians to Colorado, Washington State, etc., etc.

I’m starting to believe that 3-4 centuries is about all any developed civilization can last, before it “eats” itself.

Unfortunately the answer to fixing what they broke will lie somewhere here. While it’s a quote of Reagan’s on economy parallels can be made to progressive society and the civil sphere.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Learmorer: My wife and I were born and raised in that once WONDERFUL city!
I lived my first 50 years there and worked for 29 years there in a professional capacity.
We never lived anywhere else (other than a while in a suburb and commuted to the city where I worked and my wife owned a very successful business for 25 years).
I could not wait to leave that hell hole 21+ years ago - never looked back.
In the half century I was there the liberals/demonrats/communists/socialists and guilt ridden white idiots turned that once "most livable city" into a hell hole of horrors further made miserable by criminals and welfare rats and tax burdens beyond belief.
That was a sad self destruction, and they won't even try to turn it around.

I have never been to Seattle, but I have seen a lot of homeless encampments. I thought the KOMO coverage was about fair, definitely, not good, no better than fair. I pretty much figured that the KOMO journalists were a pack of communist morons, because that is generally a prerequisite. Did you notice that while they documented hundreds of assaults committed by the Seattle top 100, they did not interview one single assault victim? Are the victims of assaults not stakeholders regarding the criminal justice system?

What really surprised me about their little news documentary was that it contained some truth. HOLY COW, STOP THE PRESSES! Who let the truth into a news documentary? Just the part with the business owners referring to the city council as a bunch of idiots was priceless!

VarmintGuy, yeah the local news has been a big part of the problem, pretty rich for them to start complaining. If the mess gets bad enough eventually people will learn but it may be too late and lots of unnecessary damage done along the way. Still probably the only way they might learn anything. The leftists forces behind it all will try to drive things off a cliff if they can.
