Dropped the charge to 5.0gr Unique. Velocity prediction 920 fps, 19.5K psi. I cleaned out the leading from last go round. This time only minimal leading near the forcing cone. 10 rounds, 10 yards, unsupported, this time single action. Pretty nice cluster of 7 rounds, I must have pulled the other three out. I didn't make any adjustments to the sights from yesterday. Longer barrel time brought the group up to about center, but it also shifted left a tad.

i'm going to use this load, and get it zero'd at 10 yards. That should keep it pretty flat out to 50 yards.

Adjusted sights and went back to 25 yards, unsupported, modified weaver.. First five (identified by circles)went into a respectable group, although I over-corrected in my sight adjustments. Second five (identified by squares) opened up. Darn leading. I need to switch to a polymer coated bullet, probably get some 180gr from Missouri Bullet Co. Here's what I'm shooting now,

I like this NeoRetroModernIndustrialPunk look, makes the automatics look rather plain.

Western Bullets ain't a benchmark. Move on to better bullets. I can't argue with that. Since I still have about 300 of these on the bench, I figured I'd try them. I have some of the poly-coated cast bullets from Missouri Bullet Co, for the 45 Colt. They run nice and clean.

Took it out to 50 yards today. Temp was around 0F. Somewhere past 25 yards the wheels fell off. Only two hits on the target, identified by the arrows. The hits at the bottom were my 25 yard results, I flipped the target upside down for re-use at 50 yards. I cannot tell what the cause was. Maybe a poor bullet, maybe 170gr is too long. I don't know. Anyhoo, it is what it is.....and it ain't what it ain't. Going forward, I believe I will try the Hotnady 158gr XTP JHP. We'll see how that works out, might be a great all-around compromise bullet, scooted along at about 1100 fps or so.

I went and got some 'store bought' ammo to try out in this revolver.
It's the Prvi Partizan 158gr SJHP. Advertised velocity 1600 fps from a 10 inch test barrel. Probably 1250-ish in the 3 inch?
I'll get some results up soon, with some accuracy results and impressions of the full 357 recoil.

MM, just out of curiosity have you checked to see if the 180 or 200 grain HC loads will fit in the cylinder?

Ruger hit a home run with the LCR's. Totally agree.

Add a .06" rim thickness that would give an OAL of 1.63" to the front of the cylinder. Of course it's a good idea to leave a little room in case the bullet jumps a small amount.
I believe SAAMI max oal is 1.59" for the 357 Mag.....that would leave about .04" of wiggle room in the front of the LCRx cylinder.

Put some factory ammo through it today. PPU 357 Magnum 158gr SJHP. Didn't chrono, but it feels like full house ammo. Recoil was strong, but not painful. Ruger really nailed it with this grip. 25 yards, 10 rounds. After the target, I did some rock plinking at 100 or so yards. It was pretty flat shooting to that distance. Scenery shot, snow is melting.

I'm liking it more as I go along. I'm looking for a belt holster with a couple inches of drop. Something I can wear on my pants belt, that will ride below a pack waist belt. Kinda thinking about ordering one of these, with the 2" dropped/offset mounting option: https://www.giholsters.com/product-p/hst1000.htm
