Another incredible spot I had up there. One of their pastures was infested with gophers but also loaded with cattle.

I explained I wouldn't go in there because of all the cattle.

Landowner's reply? "If you can't tell a cow from a gopher I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

Four fuggin' years I hunted that place without ever meeting the guy. He was in his early 30's. I'd call and he'd say "Oh sure Travis, just please don't shoot the cows. You're always welcome."

Never even fugkin' met the guy!
Travis

Therein lies the rub. Some guys will shoot the cows, litter, leave gates open, loosen the barbwire climbing through or over fences, shoot toward the house, invite friends and relatives, etc. I absolutely get the hesitation by landowners. It wasn't always this way in TX though. There was a time when landowners were more relaxed and granted access. It isn't the good old days here anymore. Of course, some still grant access, but being a perfect stranger makes it almost a nil chance. You gotta know them or someone else vouch for you.

That was "4" in this thread alone, not "3"....perhaps I'm more educated than you, being you can't count...

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one Rog.

On to good things. Snapper fishing... Do you usually use shrimp for bait or are there other more better options? I have a hard time keeping that schit on the hook. And what size hook do you usually use?

my buddy has numbers on a sunk head boat a few miles offshore, squid for bait, don't take long to get a limit. calm days 2-3 ft can run out in a bay boat. i'll have to check hook size in the morning got that stuff in the storage room, but not real large hooks want to say 6-7/0.
