Does anyone know a decent speed loader that will handle 105gr of powder and a saboted bullet in the same loader. Currently, I have to use two loaders one for powder and one for the saboted bullet. I realize that my 54 cal options are limited few and far between. Just wondering if anyone has idea that I can make or buy that works. i do love the 54 cal and i do not plan to down grade to a 50 cal platform. Lanes tubes are 50 cal only. so no help there. Thanks of looking, Blue.

You can find all of the different styles of T/C’s .54 speedloaders on eBay. I don’t know how much powder they hold, but the magnum version probably holds 150 grains.

I always felt that the idea of "speed loaders" flew in the face of the whole idea behind using a ML in the first place. You have one shot, make doublydamned sure it counts and not be preoccupied with how fast you can reload. Just my opinion, nothing more.

i do not think they will hold a sabot and powder all in one loader. Well, their .50 ones hold a saboted bullet, powder and in some cases, a 209 primer, so I would expect the .54’s to be designed the same?

The TC 4-in-1 speed loaders in .50 will handle 120 grains of FFg and a 370 grain conical or PRB, in .54 will handle 120 grains of FFg and a 430 grain conical or PRB, and in .58 will handle 120 grains of FFg and a 555 grain conical or PRB. I've used all, no problems. I can't imagine that they wouldn't handle a saboted bullet. The .58s did, never tried .50 or .54.

In fact, people shouldn’t even be allowed to carry stuff to reload.

TOM , thanks for that info. Most of the factory offerings are just to small for my needs. The TC sabot shock wave bullet is way long and eats a lot of space, not to mention the 110gr of T777 lose powder. I will order them and see. You may have solved my problem. Many thanks, Mike

I don't use them for speed, I use them to keep my stuff organized. I prefer them to carrying loose powder and ball. I load my gun, put 2-3 speed loaders + straight line capper in a ziplock bag, put my nipple pick, patch puller, 3-5 cleaning patches, and a 1/2 oz bottle of solvent in another ziplock bag, then put those plus my starter (short+long in one) in my jacket pocket, and I'm set to go. Some people really like possibles bags. I like how they look and hate how they behave. Mine always winds up upside down with my shyte on the ground or in the creek before the day is over. I agree with you regarding making the first shot count. I've only needed more than 1 shot once and I flubbed the followups as bad as I flubbed the first shot. Tom

TOM, I too travel light, the loaders are not for speed, just convenience. Just a few things in pockets. No bag and such.

Lanes Tubes are really good for my .50 cal with sabot. But I don't think a 54 would fit in it.
