Combined ammo of 3 different batches of military surplus brass, 150 sp Sierra, 46 gr. R-15. 13 rounds fired at 100 yards, several with a very hot barrel, using a 3-9 x 40 scope. The majority went into less than an inch. Can’t complain for a rifle that feels light as a feather, has a great trigger, and is my go to hunting rifle anytime I hike with a climbing stand. I bought it here, used, several years ago.

That would be my choice of cartridge in a Montana - good shooting rifle you got .

I’m fond of mine too, but it’s 7mm-08.

I had two Kimber M84s in 308, and neither one of them shot that well-sounds like you got a good one, however!

Unless that’s a 20” dot, color me impressed with your shooting. 😄
I’d have an awfully hard time coming up with a better setup for the hunting I do. I might download a bit and use 130 TTSX’s for most applications, but it would about be nirvana FOR ME when it comes to a turn-key setup.

No way a Kimber Montana shot that group

While I haven't shot mine into more than 3 shot groups, I've found at least two factory loads my 308 Montana will group into .75... so probably an inch with 5 shots. In any case, I haven't been in any rush to work up a load - no need. These things suck!!!

Nothing wrong with that group at all. I've got a Montana in 25-06 that really likes some of my handloads. Just don't try and get too much velocity and all is good. And when you pull the trigger the deer isn't going far.

The 308 is such a great round and as popular as it is...it’s under appreciated.
