I see Ruger is offering the WSM in multiple barrel lengths. What does everyone think, 18.5", 20" or 24"?

I have a 17 Hornet CZ Varmint.
It has a 24.something heavy barrel.
I sorta wish it was shorter.......sorta.
I say 20. My next 17 whatever is gonna be a 20. 22 at the very most.
I am MAGA.

What’s the deal with that cartridge,/rifle. I wanted one, but there isn’t many choices available.
A LGS owner said that I don’t want the Savage. He says he has to send about 70% back. A gunsmith friend of mine said they are problematic too.

The Savage has the rep of being a problem. Not sure how much fact is attached to it now but early release units did have some issues. I'm not hearing any problems with the Ruger 77/17 and IF I were to buy one, that would be the way I would go.
Jim, I have a 17 Hornet that wears a 22'' barrel. The balance is good. I'm not sure it absolutely needs to be 22'' but that's what it is-currently. The 19 Badger from Calhoon is still my next buy. I can't decide whether to have a new rifle built or take one of my 22 Hornets and have it converted.

I’ve got the 18.5” Ruger with the laminated stock. Awesome little rifle. As per the norm they are touchy in the wind but man they are a blast. The AE 20 grain stuff is amazing. The last 4 shots after walking my zero down.

Beretzs, thanks for posting photos. Looks like its a shooter. Doing it over again, would you buy the same length barrel?

It’s too much fun shucking rounds and not worrying about picking cases up and it’s pretty accurate as well. Seems like it is getting better as the round count goes up.

For 5 quick shots from a rest ,is it a solid M.O.A. or better rifle???

They blow the schit out of prairie dogs.... I have a savage and it is a pretty darn good truck gun. I'm not killing paper with it, just prairie dogs.
