Mike, I did see the pictures and the amount of timber. My comment was based on just seeing the cathedral up close from the inside and outside. It’s kinda one of those things you don’t notice when you’re hit by the grandeur of this huge, magnificent structure. You’re previous post on the intensity and difficulty finding the ignition source if it was arson was a good analysis. I’m trying to read and type on my phone while eating so I’m sorry if I’m not articulating my thoughts well.

What a terrible shame! To think of the history and the people from history that have passed through there. From Kings to Knights, Napoleon to Henry it’s truly a loss that can never be replaced. I’ve been there a few times and marveled at the gothic architecture and beauty that it holds. I’ve been to Saturday night mass there done in Latin and I’ve lit candles of remembrance. It breaks my heart to see it destroyed.
I’m sure there’ll be those that want to make this tragedy political but it’s highly likely that the renovations are the cause. With so much stone/concrete it’s hard to imagine that it burned the way it did. I was baptized Catholic and raised Lutheran and don’t consider myself Catholic. I have my feelings about Catholicism but this isn’t the time or place for airing those grievances, it’s a time to mourn for the historical loss that western civilization just suffered. It’s irreplaceable and sad beyond words. +1

Good news. Apparently the main structure has been saved. The works of art were saved. Macron has tweeted that “....the worst has been avoided and France will rebuild.”

For real or just speculation? They don't know anything yet. Everyone knows what Paris has become though. It was my first thought when I first saw the story... I doubt we'll ever hear anything but the narrative the MSM wants us ti hear. My first thoughts too when I heard about it!!!

my neighbor, a pretty good dude, and runs a pressure washing business suggests that the humpback was mis-using cigarettes.
we'll have to wait on the official reports from the ldrshp there in france, be it the fire department, police, or maybe the mayor.
it may be that they have squeaked by and won't have to search far and wide for well trained stone masons.
