I carry one spare magazine, except when I am going down to the border, then I carry two--and I have an AR in the vehicle.

For ten years, I lived and worked on a ranch that had 25 miles of the international boundary as its southern border. I always had a 1911 or a Browning .40 on my belt, with two spare magazines on the other side. Never had to draw a gun on illegals, whether they were just walking or actually carrying contraband.

Nowadays, it's a different world.

Yes one can...to the chagrin of thangs in front of the muzzle.

Hint............(grin)

I'd do the same. Same reason I go heavy when I have to go into the bowels areas of Miami.

I am a full-time judge in our state's district court. My decisions often upset folks. They don't like being put in jail, and they don't like their kinfolk being put in jail.

I walk through same parking lot each day at 5:00 PM. My most likely unwanted scenario is a bad guy, lying in wait, who is pissed and is going to even the score with me. I will likely be on my own for a couple minutes until law enforcement arrives to assist. I have no idea how many rounds I'm statistically likely going to need, so I carry a G19 and a spare magazine. I can't disagree that I probably won't ever need the spare magazine, but I feel better having it along.

On weekends, I often don't care the spare. On my "cheat days" I carry a Kahr PM9 (7+1) plus a spare 6 round mag.

..you're behind the times...what do you think all those "sling bags" are that are in the "Tacticool" magazines... I've been carrying this little black pouch since the 1990s. It's also a nice place to stash my backup gun...

Make sure it's big enough.

Anything too small for a laptop says "shoot me first".

Othing worse than running out of ammo when in a target enriched environment.

Honey,

Do NOT confuse a mag capacity "issue",with gross inability. Congratulations?!?
