Yeah, there is that minor detail about jobs, isn't there? While Riggins seems like a good place to retire, at the same time you start needing medical facilities more often and it's a long ways to Grangeville.

Ok you can come, but you have to kick out 2 liberals.
Anywhere in the southern half you will have illegals but better climate. Up north is the opposite. If it were just me, I'd look north of Grangeville, South of Moscow. You do give up some climate, but living is better. When I win the lottery, I plan on buying Sandpoint. We like Sandpoint but there seems to be an artsy-fartsy crowd there which means liberal bullschitt eventually. I don’t need employment but political climate is important. These mofos in WA are trying to out-tax Kalifornia. I think our liberal politicians are trying to beat CA and OR to the drain. E. WA other than Spokane is mostly conservative but out-voted by the liberal idiots on the I-5 corridor. Every time Seattle gets a pothole they want to raise our fuel taxes.

In the last election, there were only 2 blue counties in Idaho. One was Latah, home of the liberal Univ. of Idaho. The other was Blaine, home of Sun Valley and all the rich Californians. Boise is getting more liberal as out of staters move in but only a few precincts were blue. All of Idaho's US senators and congressmen are republicans although Mike Simpson wants amnesty for illegals.

Wam, If you don't like artsy stay away from a 50 mile radius of Moscow. River corridor along u.s. 12 is a great climate, but tons of those coasters already are here. And it is still being carved up into 10 acre chunks all over....even out in the brush. Also, it's on the Rez, mostly.
As for Riggins, I've always thought of it as a good retirement spot too. I'll bet the 35 miles to Grangeville takes no longer than driving to the doctor in Boise traffic.... You need to like rocks, heat and tourists, though.

Many current residents would recommend you move to Pocatello. Because after a year or two there, you'd go back to where you came from.

Amazing how much traffic is in the CDA area now. Even a Tuesday at 10 am is unreal. Shame.

I didn't know that.....thanks. So many have moved into there that now Boise, Meridian, Nampa, and Caldwell are becoming a megalopolis.

I can remember people complaining about all the effing Californians moving in when I was a kid. This was in the 1950's and they just keep on coming. I love Idaho but there are just too many people. GD

If we were to move away from Boise, it would be to the Grangeville area. Nice country, also around Orofino, out toward the Red River country.

WAM, sorrry for that post of mine. It's just that Idaho is growing so fast these days I hardly recognize parts of it anymore. Hope you find a nice place to live.
