Then there's Malad, just across the line from Utah, and the town that annually sells many times more lottery tickets than anywhere else in Idaho - all to Utahns.

Or Burley. City slogan: "It's HOW far to Boise?"

Or Mountain Home. City slogan: "We have an Air Force base somewhere around there."

One of my lifelong best friends just had a home built in a rural ranchette subdivision outside of Idaho City.
He wanted more rural but his wife wanted to be closer to hospitals and ammenities.
I went back and visited him, it is a beautiful area.
He had a herd of elk in his front yard whe

FWIW, Atomic City is where you go when you don't want to be found. Roberts and Dubious are also that kind of place. All three are places that you don't buy a house in if you think you'll ever need to sell it quickly.

I'm in the Blackfoot area and it works for me. Close to big-ish cities if I need something I can't get here.

They sell a lot of beer, fireworks, lottery tickets, and before the internet, pornography in Evanston. Utahn’s have an insatiable appetite for that chit.

I always thought the porn shops around Evanston were targeted to the oil and gas workers. Silly me 😆

Really that's all you need to know about Idaho. Snow. Lots and lots of snow. Snow, snow, snow. I suggest you look closely at Mississippi.

Without knowing what your after,it's hard to say...Fishing is best on the Salmon and Clearwater..Hunting is all over the state depending which is your favorite to hunt and everyday prices are through the roof about everywhere but the cities.

I used to live in McCall when it was a logging town with a mill as well as Riggins when it had a mill..Now McCall is a tourist trap with hoards of people coming up from the valley on the weekends which makes outdoor stuff suck anymore..Riggins isn't much better when the Stealhead and Salmon run making fishing more like combat fishing..

Pro's and Con's to about everywhere to roost..It's all give and take.

In the summer it's heat. Desert heat. And dry. Your skin will be crackly all summer. Your wife will be buying skin moisturizer in 5 gal pails. Do they make SPF 75 sun screen?

For years, I've used a snowplow on a Craftsman garden tractor. The plow's wearing out and 3 winters ago, we had enough snow that my tractor could hardly handle it. It's not made for that. So, I bought a new plow for my UTV. In 2 winters, I haven't used it yet.

Oh, and let's talk about Spring. Spring usually falls on Tuesday and Wednesday. You'll go straight from long john's to needing to wear shorts. But you won't wear shorts because the wind and dust will scour your skin raw.

Pick a spot in Idaho with the worst weather and fewest coffee shops and you should be fine and virtually liberal free......

First time I went into a small town in Idaho I stopped in the bar to have a beer. All 7 residents were there and they told me about the local "hardware store". If you had something you could donate you took it down there and put it in a big barn. If you needed something you went down there and looked around for what you need. The place was full of stuff. There was even a 1954 Packard in there!
