Thinking of converting a #1 varmint 220 swift into a long range wind rifle (600- 1000 yds) in 284 win or 280 AI using 180gr bullets. Trying to improve on my 6.5 creed on very windy days, which round would you choose?.

Not what you want to hear, but my experience with #1s tells me that they do not have the accuracy to be a long range gun. Sell it or just buy a good bolt gun and build an accurate rifle. I’d start with a Rem 700 action.
