Mexican troops disarmed American soldiers on US side of the border
by Daniel Jativa | April 20, 2019 11:14 AM

Armed Mexican troops disarmed two United States soldiers while they were on the American side of the border, U.S. defense officials have said.

U.S. Northern Command said in a statement that "five to six Mexican military personnel questioned two U.S. Army soldiers who were conducting border support operations" this month. The U.S. soldiers were in an unmarked Customs and Border Protection [CBP] vehicle near the southwest border near Clint, Texas.

Officials confirmed that the Mexican troops were armed with what seemed to be rifles. They raised their weapons when they saw the two U.S. soldiers, and then took a pistol from one and put it in the CBP vehicle. According to officials talking to CNN, the two Americans obliged "in an attempt to de-escalate a potential volatile situation."

"Throughout the incident, the U.S. soldiers followed all established procedures and protocols," the statement said. The two U.S. troops were on the south side of the security perimeter but north of the Rio Grande and thus were in the U.S., according side American territory, it added.

Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security officials demanded an explanation from the Mexican government. "An inquiry by CBP and DOD [Department of Defense] revealed that the Mexican military members believed that the US Army soldiers were south of the border," the statement said.

"Though they were south of the border fence, U.S. soldiers remained in U.S. territory, north of the actual border."

I don't want to loose two of our soldiers to a platoon of Mexican army but this needs to be considered as an act of war against our country and treated as such.

They made the right call do deescalate. they were armed with a pistol against 5-6 regulars with rifles. the pistol was put back in their vehicle. I hardly see this as an act of war. what likely happened was they were in what is a no mans land similar to N/S Korea. they were in an unmarked vehicle and were stopped. I would be very curious to hear what they were questioned on, but they were sent along their way with their pistol. hardly note worthy overall. but the keyboard commandos will want to sent in the 506 to invade mexico city over it. I would hope they were straitlaced mexican soldiers who were assisting in border patrol. this is way more feasible than an incursion by a foreign army of 6 guys who were bent on starting ww3, who allowed the defending army of 2 to keep their sidearm. think about it.

I know, but we've already got a good thread going down in the deer hunting section. I just didn't want to take away from the anger and "blow out of proportion" antics from there. so I had selfish reasons. that still means I'm 'fire worthy right? laugh

BS they were on American soil. The mexicans knew that. Armed soldiers crossing the border and detaining American soldiers IS an act of war. Time to start just shooting.

Hmmm the Mexican military is so corrupt its not funny. Mexican cartels pay big money for cooperation and inflict big pain and suffering for not cooperating. I guess there is no change that these Mexican soldiers were interdicting for the cartels... especially since it has happened before.

The bigger question is why did we send two National Guardsmen armed only with a pistol? Border Patrol and even Texas Parks and Wildlife (game Wardens) are better armed in these areas. I bet you they weren't even permitted to have the pistol loaded.

And What was the Mexican Military doing on the US side of the Border
They know very well were the Border marker are.

This was an act of aggression and intimidation if it in fact actually happened
Can anyone believe anything coming from CNN

Armed foreign troops on US soil pointing their weapons at and disarming American troops is no small matter. Nothing to start a war over, though many have been. But certainly something to sort out and make right. Close air support may be a good idea, or minimum of 6 US troops patrolling at any one time. J

This ^^^^, with full auto assault weapons. This is not the first time this has happened, iirc.

The servicemen were not prepared to handle a few drug traffickers.
