Feel sad for yourself. You show up here regularly to spit on your mirror.

Try a BMW R1250R when they become available. You'll get rid of the Burgman ASAP.

You seem like a fixed fairing type of guy.
If you ride a new one they are very unharley like in power...with the new motor,,,you better hang on.
Not sure how the motor company got something that heavy so maneuverable.
The way they shift...no cluncking...
Want a Vibrator? Go to a sex toy store.H-Ds dont anymore.
The batwing fairing of the electra glide will give more protection for your hands than the roadie.
The roadie handles wind buffeting better...

Prob’ly they need to come out with a naked Bergmann, with a Harleyesque batwing fairing, straight pipes, and a whole bunch of chrome that needs detailing before every ride.

Oh wait! They do! It’s called the H-D Trike Ultra and it starts at just $36,009..... Holy crap, is that a mobility scooter on steroids or what grin

But I digress.......

Three things bother me about the Bergmann. The first are those small diameter wheels. I’ve hit enough serious potholes and road debris, bigger wheels are better.

Another is all that plastic, I’m sure it has reinforced contact points for parking lot tipovers, but if it slides any distance at all it’s gonna be all scratched up. It needs crash bars.

Finally, I know it has a trunk, but how do you bungee on extra stuff like a bedroll and tent that won’t fit in the trunk?

Paddler, from one Campfire Pariah to another.....

Now that you have recommended the R1250R, I wouldn’t touch one with a 12ft pole, and you’ve already taken the DR650 forever off of the table.

Please stop.

When it comes to roadbike skills, corners are everything. Gotta be able to lean 30+ degrees in corners. This eliminates all Harleys except for the Sportster cafe racer, which barely makes the cut.

You really don't know what you're talking about.

CORNERINGING is very importantant.

Yeses it is.

Gentlemen.....

Compact iPhone + $5 reading glasses

Do the math.

1) ABILITY TO PULL 80 ALL DAY LONG ON THE INTERSTATE.

Essential when crossing the Continent. I have heard this eliminates the Harley Sportsters which do pull 80, but which beat you Death doing so.

2) ROOM FOR A PASSENGER.

Doesn’t have to be a sofa, but shouldn’t be S&M gear either. This eliminates sportbikes which impart a gynecological exam chair posture to the passenger.

3) THREE CYLINDERS OR LESS.

5) PICK-UPPABLE BY ONE PERSON AFTER TIP-OVER.

I have this phobia of being found dead in the desert....... next to my tipped-over motorcycle.

Might eleminate the Harley Dresser And GoldWing-class motorcycles

So far Bristoe’s 650 Bergmann scooter is one of the top picks grin :

6) REBUILDABLE IN A PARKING LOT.

Only ones still that simple anymore I know of are the air cooled 650 thumper dual sports by Suzuki and Honda.

7) A FOREVER MOTORCYCLE.

A classic worth keeping forever, supported by a continuing availability of parts.

Not sure I know of one that meets all of the above.
Well, I'm sure there are others, but my HD Ultra Classic fits all the above with a slight exception to #4... But then, I don't drive like some TT-wannabe... And #1 above is a piece of cake for this bike... smile

A Tmax would better suit you. In fact, you'd soon learn that it's the best motorcycle you've ever owned.

But you won't buy one.

Well ol Gibby Brunoe took it to the local tire shopoff the rez to get a tire fixed, well a few days later Ol Gibby riding down the highway feeling freedom. Hell might have been an eagle following him too hell who knows. Anyhow rear tire blows out ol Gibby takes a pretty good spill on the highway (this was off the rez) if I remember rights ends up in an irrigation ditch all ph ucked up. The rumor on the rez ol Gibby few days after getting his tire fixed had another flat and decided he was going to fix it himself. Patched up the tube/tire and well day or two later is when he took a ride right into the irrigation ditch. He would always show people his ph ucked up scar lol. Last I heard Gibby had a stroke and pretty much sat in a wheelchair at his house on the rez until he died..

Let’s all say a prayer for ol’ Gibby, no one deserves to go out like that. Here’s hoping he’s up there kickin’ back in the Happy Hunting Grounds where ya always win a settlement even without landing in a ditch.

I will say this....... you Rez guys seem awful judgemental about Africa.

Just sayin.....

Those TMax and trailers are bad ass.

But not bad ass enough for a guy in his 60's that can't stay upright in a Wal Mart parking lot, hit every pothole in the county, and crash and burn around corners he has no need to speed through.

Because you know, that's what guys in their 60's are out to do on a bike.

One road bike I had and which I truly loved, was a 1982 gl1100 Gold Wing; the stripped model. The mini plexi fairing gave good protection for me. I changed fork springs and installed Koni Shocks at the rear which raised the ride height by a little better than an inch. I had narrower bars on it which changed the riding position just a little. This was the only bike I ever had which was comfortable for a 600 mile day. It was smooth, had adequate power, and could cruise easily at 80 mph. Mileage was close to fifty miles per gallon. When we travelled as a family, my wife carried our daughter and their rain gear on her Kawasaki 750. I carried our son, all the baggage , and the dog, on the Gold Wing. When we stopped for gas, I would generally take about 30 cents less than she would. It handled well although it took some effort on the bars to negotiate hard corners. With the taller, stiffer, suspension, I had to work hard to touch the pegs. It was stable on gravel and slides were easily controlled. Top speed was between 125 and 130 if I was by myself. I rode it for 60,000 trouble-free miles until I sold it and bought a 1989 BMW R100 GS. This bike got worse mileage, had less power, was less comfortable, and re-introduced me to the joys of being stranded when the damn thing would break down. It did handle better on gravel and was easier to steer on twisty roads but that was it. It wasn't until I bought the V-strom that I had a bike I could like. It's smoother than the Wing and handles better. Not as powerful or fast but not bad. Mileage about the same. EFI sucks but we're stuck with it. Not quite as comfortable to sit on but close. I've done 600 mile days on it but am daydreaming of getting into a bed by the time I am done. Of course it is 35 years later and I may not be quite as fit as I was. Today, If I buy another bike, I'm likely to buy a Triumph Bonneville just because I like the looks. We tried a Harley Roadster, during a retro phase, but when we tried it on a demo ride, I ground the muffler down in the first right hand turn I took so that was that. If they would make a naked V-Strom, that would be, for me, the perfect bike. GD

Mine was a ‘93 GS/PD. I still have nightmares.

What was even worse was the ‘94, the last of the old-school R bikes. It only came in jet black with chromed crash bars, people were calling it the Batcycle. I think by then BMW was suffering paroxysms of guilt, and made it so ugly so no one would buy it.

This is just a guess, but you may be mis- interrupting what those women mean when they say they're going to turn your lights out. Next time, check em for clenched fists.

It seems that more of you are addicted than the rest of the general populace. I just drove 1,400 miles south to north and saw no more than half a dozen motorcycles the whole way. I've had twelve motorcycles from a mini to a Harley and I've come to the conclusion that I don't want a big road bike for the highway. Around town maybe and I've regretted not buying a Triumph 500 with the high pipes instead of the 650 TR6C that I did buy back when. Today I enjoy just plunking around on the dirt roads up north on an '83 Honda CT110 trail bike and even though it is street legal, we pick off way too many street legal bikers and another one died yesterday here. The new ones are so fast and guys drive them so recklessly that it is a rare night that you don't hear one being wound up going through the gears. I got picked off on my first one when the guy didn't see me and people haven't changed. Biking I've hit a bird on the highway, caught a hornet up my sleeve, been chased by dogs, had a deer jump over my front fender, narrowly missed a herd of cows crossing the road, laid the bike down from a patch of oil... No, that CT110 or the Rokon is all I'll need for a two wheeler. Stodgy maybe, but alive and well.

My other auto is a .45

No, not at all. It’s women who do the choosing.

Anyhoo.... ain’t slept with a woman other than my ex in like 30 years grin So I’ll be needing lots of chrome, and straight pipes......
