Thoughts on it? The only 2-stroke that I have is my little chain saw that goes through maybe two fills of fuel a year. How well does the canned stuff keep? Thanks

That's the beauty of it it doesn't start growing crud in 6 months like today's pump gas. I just bought my first jug of it after hearing too many people happy with it, its not cheap though but gummed up carbs on seldom used saws etc. are a thing of the past if you use it. Well I'm sure there's limitations but its way better than pump gas. iirc they said 2 years shelf life on the Stihl stuff I bought.

If that was all I used per year I’d just buy the canned fuel. Our dealer sells it in what looks like quart cans.

I use 93 octane, with Sta-bil, and Stihl 2 stroke oil, and my mix keeps really well. I have some I mixed last summer and I just used the last the other day. I do try to rotate my stock, and empty the fuel tank of any equipment that's going to sit for a year.

Yup. Not for someone using a saw a lot. I don't use my saws much these days so it starts to make sense. When there's call to use the saw a lot I'll be mixing my own tyvm. Then use the pre mix for the last tank before putting it away. I bought this stuff stihl premix link

It’s all we’re allowed to buy at work. Seems last year a not so bright summer hand ran 4 weed eaters until they gave up on straight gas. All in one afternoon!
It is kinda nice not having to mix it but super expensive, $19.87gal where we get it.

Sounds gay. Get an electric chainsaw if that's all you do. Before you give yourself bursitis pulling on that saw.
I burn about 2 gallons of 50:1 a week, no way I'd buy premix.

I'm back using a powersaw to make a living and I have always mixed my fuel at 40:1, we used to mix it richer than that when in bug country as it helped to keep the mosquito's away. I try not to let it sit around for more than 2 months, I mix up enough to make sure it get used up before that time, stihl oil is good, I recently switched to Lucas 2 cycle. In 40 years I have only burnt out 2 saws, neither because of an oil issue.

For that little bit of use the canned gas is probably a good idea, particularly if you can't find non-ethanol gas in your area. I see the canned 50:1 fuel at my local Home Despot for about 6 bucks a quart which will probably see you through a year.

I mix up a gallon of chainsaw 50-1, put in Sta-bil and it will keep good for at least a year. Never had a problem.

You probably couldn't find better fuel for your saw.

I use the Stihl version. That’s what they put in it when I bought it, and the warranty was extended another year if I bought a can.
Works for me.

I burn about 2 gallons of 50:1 a week, no way I'd buy premix. Yep My 'mix' is constantly being used by saws, weedeaters, blowers, hedge trimmers etc If saws sit for a month[rare] I fire them up and run them, do the same with weedeater in winter. Use non-E fuel and synthetic mix. If I were only going to use something 1-2 times annual I'd go battery.

I mix my own. I have a dedicated 1 gal gas jug just for 2-cycle mix and always have a quart or two of Castrol 2-cycle oil on hand. I also have an app for mixing the ratios properly.

I mix my own in the summer with etoh free gas and stabil. I have a pair of saws two weed eaters and a leaf blower, enough to make it worthwhile. I do use the premix for the ice auger in the winter as one can last for the season and its the only 2 cycle I am going to run december-march.
