Funny too!

the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded. Robert E Lee

Little is known about its relative the OXCART though.
A fraction faster than the BLACKBIRD.

It’s said that the SR71 is the pinnacle of human engineering. Everything after the blackbird used computers but the SR71 was built using slide rules.

The SR-71 should be labeled a wonder of the world.

There's a former O-2 FAC who I witnessed making the Guinness Book for being the only man to ever fly both the SR-71 and a Wright Flyer. It was an exact replica Wright and not an original, of course. But still...

I would expect there were several parameters / attributes that were never fully disclosed. And I'm O.K. with that. No need to show the bad guys all of the cards in your hand...

I had heard (or read) this story before. And there is some great reading materials by the guys that flew these things.

But I have not read or heard the story about the last flight of the bird sitting at Dulles. I believe they broke some sort of record getting it to its final parking spot.

Years ago, I read that the Valkyrie was responsible for the 'beginning of the end' for Russia. The article said that when the US developed the Valkyrie, the Russians didn't have anything to compete with it..... certainly no bombers, but also no fighters fast enough to catch it. And, although it never went into production in the US, and the Russians were told that, they didn't believe it. So the Russians scrambled to develop a plane that would catch the Valkyrie and thus the Mig-25 'Foxbat' came to be. The cost of development of the Foxbat was so high that it started the downward spiral for the Soviet Union, that eventually lead to the destruction of the Berlin Wall.

I'm sure there were many other things that contributed to and help escalate the downward spiral, but the Valkyrie was supposedly the beginning.

Crow, oh yes we did. The chart info for the -71 is BS if you're looking for specifics. The -71 goes faster and higher than that by a fair bit, saw it on a number of occasions. Enroute centers have a different style of radar and related equipment that towers/approach controllers do not have and can't access. Dunno what the security classification is for that info and I'm not going any further with the discussion.

I am..........disturbed.
