I took my 7.5 inch blue steel redhawk out to the coast range west of portland, It has a Weaver 2.5X8 pistol scope on it , in the factory Ruger Rings. I brought my 6.5 inch Model 29 along too. The load was The starting load from the Hogden website of 26 grins of hogden lil,gun under a 210 grain Speer Gold dot. I had the scope adjusted in about 3 shots off a sandbag sitting on the hood of my jeep. Not an experienced shooter with scoped revolvers, I was happy to hit a pop can at 60 paces off hand. I then put up a paper target at 50 paces and rested i was able to cluster 4 or 5 shots into around 3 inches , And centered quite well. But i allway threw 1 or two out of 6. Off hand was another story ! I do not like the Houge Grips that came with the Revolver and have some Pachmyer Decelerators ordered. But recoil was not bad at all, i fired 50 rounds and i admit that by the end i was not shooting to well. The Weaver scope seems very good, but I would rather try my luck with the 1.5 X4 they make, but the scope came with the 44, so i can't complain much. The only negative was a few times something would sting the left side of my face. I have had this before with other revolvers, can not recall the cause or the solution ! Any ideas ? ...tj3006

i should see if i can find a feeler gage and or buy one ! i never thought of that. i plan to try some cast bullets next, it could be a piece of copper jacket peeling of at the cone ! I should also mark the chamber to see if its the same one each time.! Thanks !

I'd look at the forcing cone first and see how rough it is. I have found them with machine marks you could have filed your fingernails on.
