Probably didn't see that on more than 3-4 dozen Cobras in Nam.

As far as I am concerned, it aint a museum without a Huey. Sorry about the naked snake tho. Both are combat vets. Its good to see them preserved as well.

Now here is a real combat vet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flak_Bait.

Dont know if drawing this a/c on a mission would have been a good thing, or a bad thing. You gotta figure its number would be up soon if you drew it.

Some brave dudes climbed into that old bird. God bless them all from that generation.

The sharks teeth paint scheme originated with The Flying Tigers on their P-40's flown by the American Volunteer Group which was formed to help defend China against Japan prior to the onset of America's entry into war with Japan.
Fact or Fiction - the paint scheme was said to be adopted to strike fear into the Japanese pilots.

This is true (and I guess the paint scheme being to intimidate the Japs is also true).

The P40 tomahawk/warhawk is the fighter most associated with the shark's teeth, but I do believe it was on other fighters as well. Helos too in later engagements as Dan mentioned.

I'm partial to the P51 D Mustang as Grampa fought in one, but being a Marine myself I have a soft spot for the F4U Corsair. They both had their strong points, and not too many weak points.

Now now now Jerry....One would think they'd of been called Gerry since Germany starts with a "G", but every reference I can find spells it with a "J".

I prefer to call them Krauts, 'cause I am a Politically Correct Son of a Bitch...
