I have a minor problem, and figured you guys would be the ones to ask. I just put my Remington 700 into a different factory stock. If you snug the front action screw down good & tight, the bolt won't open or close. If you back it off about a 1/2 turn, then everything works fine. 1st, is the problem because the bolt is a little too long, or something with the stock? 2nd, if I just leave it alone without snugging it down tight, will that have any aprreciable effect on accuracy?

Thanks, Troy

Remove the front action screw and grind off one thread. Should solve your problem.

I had the same problem with my Rem. 700 classic in 375 H&H with the factory wood stock. Do what WiFowler said and you'll be good to go. Screw a nut onto the action screw before you grind off a thread. When you remove the nut it will clean up the threads.
