I need to downsize. This rifle is in good condition, a few scuffs on bluing and a few nicks and dents in stock. The trigger has some take up. Marlin bullseye is a bit proud to the stock (obviously has been replaced). Any idea what something like this is worth. I’d like to start it at a fair price.

Thanks.
Tom

AD puts it early 1968

I think the pad hurts it a bit but otherwise very nice!

The 444's in that era came with a pad & the pad in the photo appears to be original. Nice looking rifle!

Thanks for the info. I thought the pad was original, but wasn’t sure.

Assuming a tight but smooth action, good bore and proper function, anything under $750 is a good deal! It should have a 24 inch barrel. I am glad I have been away from my computer for a few days! I already own eight 444s! I sure as heck don't need another. But this one is tempting.

To whomever bought it - Great Grab!!!!!!! Congrats!!

$550 to $650 in this area, depending on condition.
Buddy sold one at a gun show here earlier this year for $600

CHL, just curious, was your buddy's rifle a pre-1971 with a 24 inch barrel?

It's been a while since Marlin has offered the 444 Marlin rifle. I have the only Remlin 444 I have ever seen. They were having so many problems they abandoned that model. It's a shame. The 444 is a great round.

Rumors circulate now and then that Marlin is going to renew manufacture of the Marlin 444 but I have yet to see one. My REP 444 was manufactured in 2011 with Ballard rifling. It had feeding issues. I had Ranger Point Precision fix the timing and slick up the action. It is now a smooth lever that shoots MOA . Also, mine has a beautiful walnut buttstock left over from the pre-Remington days with cut checkering and nice grain figure. - T.S.

Was at the NRA Show in Indianapolis 2 weeks ago and they had the 444 Marlin on display at the Marlin/ Remington booth. I asked the Rep when they would be available and he said now. He said several distributors already had them. I haven’t heard of anyone seeing them in the gun racks anywhere yet.
