Now if I can just hunt down a 444P that I have been after for 5 years or so. If they weren't ported, I would have bought one while they were still in production.

Was at the NRA Show in Indianapolis 2 weeks ago and they had the 444 Marlin on display at the Marlin/ Remington booth. I asked the Rep when they would be available and he said now. He said several distributors already had them. I haven’t heard of anyone seeing them in the gun racks anywhere yet. Good info. Thanks!! T.S.

But I like the configuration Some guys have swapped pistol grips out for straight grips and levers. You could buy a regular 444, do that, cut and crown for probably the same or less than the purchase price of a 444p. It's an option.

Yep, I haven't talked to RPP in a while - they've been really busy and so have I. However, unless things have changed, they quit doing custom work to focus all resources on producing their aftermarket parts. Our loss for sure. They did great custom work.
I was fortunate enough to have had RPP make me custom Marlin 336s in 219 Donaldson Wasp, 25-35 Winchester, 7-30 Waters and 36 RPP; plus chop my stainless 1895 Guide Gun and one of my Glenfield 30-30s to 16.25 inches and thread the barrels for suppressor, before they stopped doing custom orders. All of this work was done over the span of two years or less. It seemed excessive at the time but in retrospect, had I strung the projects out, I wouldn't have half of them.

Excited to receive this rifle. It will soon be wearing a vintage 2-7 Redfield and will be used to pursue big game here in NH.

Rich, you won't be disappointed. They don't make them like yours anymore. The 444 is good for anything in North America when fed the proper loads. Congratulations on a great find!
