OP 1911a1 Campfire Tracker Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 5,681 Likes: 4 N.E. Texas	I'm interested in using alkenet root to color the grain filling oil for a stock I'm doing. There is some info on the internet but not entirely clear or concise. If anyone has some suggestions I would greatly appreciate some help. I'm planning on using either Permalyn products from Brownells or Seafin shipnshore product Dwayne Wiebe uses. He also sells the alkenet.. Thanks! Craigster Campfire Tracker C Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 6,786 humboldt	Soak the root in MS 'til you get the desired shade. Strain the solution and add it to your finish. Be aware that some finish mfgs say not to thin their product, but that's what you will be doing. I've done it more than a few times without adverse effects. Or, stain the stock with the alkenet first and then apply your finish. Wait for a while, someone will come along and disagree. Old Corps Semper Fi FJB
