No, it is different but still, one of the greatest shows ever.

The television series was OK but the last season seemed very weak to me. The books are another matter. They're great and well worth reading. I hope George R.R. Martin gets the next book finished soon.

The rumor is that he has already finished the Ice and Fire book series but had a deal with the GOT folks to not release them until after the TV show had finished. Just a rumor, though, so I have no idea how true it is.

Rome was a terrific series, as was Deadwood. GOT isn't like either in content obviously but it has the same great production values as both of those.

Now Rooster, that's very strange . . . that Ferrari was "gray" on my TV! grin

I haven’t ever seen an epIsode either, just watched some clips on YouTube, from what I’ve seen The Hound AKA Sandor Clegane was easily the show’s most compelling character.a

That's the thing, like any good show there are a whole bunch of compelling characters. Cersei the Evil Queen and her lover/twin brother/father of her children, Arya the Teenage Assassin, Tyrion the Whoring, Heavily Drinking Imp, Daenerys the Mother of Dragons and Owner of a Great Rack, Jon Snow the Resurrected Bastard, Lord Pimp the Manipulator, Lord Eunuch the Spymaster, Brienne the Big Woman Warrior You Don't Want to Get in a Swordfight With, The Hound and his brother The Mountain, plus a whole host of others with pretty well developed story lines and, eventually, about a gazillion zombies. They aren't afraid to kill off a bunch of front runners, either, so when a main character gets in a bad situation they aren't automatically guaranteed to survive it.

Actually, for many of viewers it was the end of a story that spanned nearly 23 years as George R. R. Martin's first book, 'A Game of Thrones' was first published August 1, 1996. My wife read every book and George never finished the last book to end the story so those loyal to it had to wait until last Sunday for the ending; a 22 year and almost 10 month wait.

And well founded rumor is that when Martin does finish HIS book, it will have little resemblance to season 8 of GOT.

There will be spinoffs too. Figure “I have no name” and probably Bran the Broken will each have a show

I binge watched the first 7 (?) seasons last year but don't have HBO so I haven't seen any of this last season. I thought it was a fricken awesome show and hope to see the last season soon. If you haven't seen it how can you have any opinion of it???

Finally got around to watching the last episode, wholly unsatisfactory...the entire last season was a dud fo epic proportion.

These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.
