I'm pretty sure all my Trailcam pics are of the same kitty. Made a pest of itself one summer. [/img] [/img] [/img]

Nice pics Brian, you out on the coast? Got home last week, Ft. Bragg north to Winchester bay, visiting friends and family.... The first pic is Pyramid Lake Nevada, stopped a couple days for memories, used to spend a lot of time fishing that lake.

I remember reading out pyramid lake in outdoor life as a kid. Isn’t that the lake guys hauled ladders out to cast from?? Lahathan trout?

Jud, Yes they fly fish from ladders in the middle of the winter, pretty hard core. The Lahontan cutthroats are the largest cutt's in the world. My largest is 11lb 6oz. Interestingly they cross bred the original strain with rainbows and diluted the strain also they diverted the Truckee river to irrigate Fallon, Nv. and the original cutt's suffered greatly. Not long ago they found an original strain of Lahotan's on Pilot peak Nv. in a small stream in the far Nortweast corner of the state, they transplanted them and they seem to be doing better and the size is increasing. I hear 20+ lbr's being caught these days.

I've read about this. Someone did some research and found that the old railroad had some stops on Pyramid Lake, as well as a pond near Wendover, where the steam locomotives would get fresh supplies of water. Supposedly the railroad would dump the remaining "old" water from Pyramid Lake that hadn't been used on their way east right at the Pilot Peak stop and fill up with a fresh supply of water. When filling up at Pyramid Lake, they're assuming some Lahontan cutthroat fry hitched a ride. I am guessing the water source pond near Wendover that the railroad used was connected to the creek that they somewhat recently found the pure strain trout in. Early aquatic hitchhikers I guess. I believe I read about it at a interpretative display at a motel or maybe a casino in Wendover. I am sure I had been drinking, else I'd remember more about it.

After so much rain and flooding in Ark. I took ole Harley for a little ride. This pond is about twice it's normal size, since it was 90* the cows took advantage of the cool water. The Arkansas River will be higher this weekend than it was in the 1990 Flood here. +/- 60 from home is the site of the Battle of Jenkins Ferry, in 1864 That tree top is the result of saturated ground and the tree just toppled over. Jenkins Ferry is on the Saline River and ALL the reliefs were full and flowing The River Bottom is 4.25 mi long here and straight and flat as a string. On the West side of the river bottom on high ground is this Historic Marker The YANKS were Retreating from Camden to Little Rock. -> Just For You Battue....... Jerry - aka Johnny Reb

This little section of our State must have been Union sympathizers. It's Grant Co. and the County Seat is a small town called Sheridan.
Jerry
edit to add: WX service just said the Arkansas River at Tulsa is the highest SINCE the record set in 1986.
