Just picked up this beauty. My first savage bolt action. A 110L in 243. Can't wait for the weather to break so I can get to the range. This is a 1964 vintage.

Yessir, that looks to be in fine shape. Good for you! Jump right on those slippery Savage slopes! I'd be curious to hear if it's the early SA with 4.5" action screw spacing and sweet three-screw trigger.

For some time now I've been thinking of snagging a good older 110. Nice rifle.

It's funny to watch a right handed shooter shoot a left handed bolt gun. They keep reaching up with their right hand grabbing air where the bolt isn't.

The 110L in the short action is a sweet rig. I missed out on a 22-250 to go with a .308.

Thats me! at the moment i have one 30-06 in my cabinet. guess which one that is.
am looking for a 110 in 22-250 but not very hard. my shooting days are few anymore.

Early 110's from the first year of production are nice light and accurate rifles in good condition. I picked up one # 27xx in 30-06 a couple years ago. Read that 30-06 was only cartridge offered in the first year? MB

That makes me feel good Tom.

I do have one in 22-250 that is very accurate but it's not going anywhere. Has the rear sight boss but no dovetail, 24" lightweight barrel. Since the 22-250 wasn't standardized by Remington until 1966, Savage had already gone to a pressed checkered stock by then. It wears a cut checkered stock now.

I haven't found any of those early Savages to be poor shooters.

i only have 2 bolt guns left in my cabinet.
the 110 i got from Roy and a mdl 10 in .223 i swapped a ar15 for.
the 110 is a tack driver and so is the .223.
just about all a guy needs.
they look scared next to all the levers.
think i will go your route Roy and find a donor action and barrel it. then carve a piece of wood for it.
keep me out of the bars. that and living 30 miles from town!

This rifle now wears a Leupold VX-II that I had sitting around. I have to say, I love how light and trim this rifle is.
