Just picked this pristine 25-2 .45 acp / .45 auto rim from FFL Thursday. Same owner I bought the 657 4" no "-" from. It's cut for moon clips. Ejector rod has some wear. Previous owner used it for bowling pin competition. Other than that, the finish is a perfect old school deep blue. Will make for some fun shooting, along with 625-2, also in .45 acp. Not an original box. But, S&W box that previous owner labeled for his safe.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Flave, I do, too.
I'll bring it along next time we hook up.
Never really had a lot of interest in the full lugs.

That right there is Good Stuff.
One of my best friends and I bought near-matching 25's from a man many years ago. His is in 45 ACP, mine in 45 Colt. The deal was that whoever died first would leave his half of the set to the other.
I got fat. I don't like this deal anymore.... lol
Seeing that beautiful Smith in your post is probably as close as ill get to owning one. Thank you for the eye candy.

That is a fantastic S&W revolver. You probably won't wear it out but you can sure have fun trying.

Smith has been building durable, accurate 45 ACP revolvers since the First War. I've got an 80 year old Brazilian that still shoots as well as any Model 29/629 I ever owned.

Thanks Dirt.
Maybe a good incentive for me would be taking my 25 to the range for every 25 lbs I drop.
For the OP - everyone is going to tell you what fine guns they are, and theyre right. The lockwork from that time period has real finesse, the half lug balances the gun well, and best of all .45 ACP is great to shoot in an N frame.
And if you ever get a chance at one in 45 Colt, I say go for it. I like the Colt version even better but they are both FINE choices.
