H4831 is always a good bet with the 270 !! I agree! I just worked up a load for a friend and his Browning Bar in 270 with H4831 behind a Sierra 130gr Pro Hunter and it shoots very well. Should do a number on NC whitetails this fall. Mike

I know you specified a 130 gr. bullet but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in just for consideration. I shoot 150 gr. Partitions exclusively in my .270 Win. My load typically has been 57.0 grs. of Rldr-22 and has given me good accuracy and about 2935 fps. After reading a post on the board here about IMR-7828, I decided to try it. From my brief experimentation, I've found I can attain my 2935 fps. velocity and still maintain my accuracy. Don't know if you wanna consider going to a 150 gr. bullet or not but if so, I'd look at Rldr-22 or IMR-7828. Just thought I'd pass this on. Later, Bear in Fairbanks

3100 from Accurate will duplicate your H450 load. I have done a lot of chronograph work this year, and I could not get good velocity out of the H or IMR 4831, even going past the O'Connor load. (Maybe I have a really slow low of each?) have not been able to get totally comfortable with the RL22 either. Over the years, I have used a bunch of 785 with total satisfaction, then some 450. Now in the same predicament you found yourself in. Suspect Ramshot powders ought to get some attention later this year as I would like to return to ball powder. Do not think I have enough class to use the VV stuff. Good luck.

Another vote for Ramshot Hunter. The stuff meters like a dream and the temp variance is very little.

When you can get it, Norma MRP is superb.
Otherwise RL22, H4831SC or 4350 (either flavor) for lighter bullets.
Most 270's I've worked with are not real finicky.

One rifle likes 140gr bullets with H4831SC, the other likes 130gr bullets with IMR 4831.....go figure.

That's very true......
I generally prefer IMR-4831 in the 270 Win., because I have usually achieved the same accuracy and velocity (sometimes a bit more speed) with 3-4 grains less powder than with H-4831. So load-density is a bit more ideal, and there's slightly less noise and recoil. I always use magnum primers in the 270 Win., usually Federal 215s.
One of my friends has had the best luck in terms of accuracy with H-4350.

I too have had much success with H4831 powder when crafting loads for my .270 Winchester M70. My rifle likes 60 gr with a Sierra 130 Game King
58 grains with a Nosler 140 BT or the Sierra 140 gr Game King and 57 gr with the Nosler Partition.
