Cruising the local pawn stores looking at tool boxes... noticed an exceptionally clean Remington 1100. Older 12ga 2 3/4β only modified choke. Bolt face looked almost new. Easily a 95% or better. They had it listed for $550. Decent price? They offer 5 month interest free layaway which really grab my attention as spreading it out over a few payments would help the home budget LOL. Whatβs the market like on these shotguns?

Its an OK price but no great deal. 1100s are a dime a dozen and even great condition does not add significantly to a field model. The general rule of thought is the shop paid half of the sticker price so there is room for negotiation. I would suggest walking in with cash and start at $375-400 and work up to $450 as I think the latter price is would be at the lower portion of reasonable.

I agree with Woodmaster, no great deal there. The 28 modified choked Rem 100's were and are the commonly found models. The Rem 1100's in skeet or trap guns bring $100 to $200 more on average.
Try to find a used clean Winchester Super-X model one shotgun for $550.00.....you will have a shotgun engineered and built like a Win model 12.

Thanks for the advice guys, went in today and came out smelling like roses. Got the 1100 for $450 (put it in lay a way)
They had a set of SnapOn wrenches new in the packaging for $150.
I know the retail on it is $350 on the truck. I can buy it then get $350 worth of credit towards my truck account. Thus netting me $200
I ended up getting the wrench set for $125 ππ€·πΌββοΈπ. The $225 the wrenches will make me knocks the price on the shotgun under $300 π

Nice way to justify the purchase! I have a 1100 as well, I love mine.I was originally looking for an 1187 Premier, but found this I had to have it. The cool thing about them is no need get too hung up on the barrel that it came with. There are a variety of barrels available and are easy to change. You can even get a barrel that uses the screw in Rem-Chokes in various lengths. Many guns in one. For mine it came with nice long full choke goose barrel...I now have a rifle sighted slug barrel and Skeet barrel Enjoy yours!

Great guns, but finding one around here in decent shape or any shape for $550 is getting next to impossible to do. Remington auto loaders everywhere, the early Winchesters not so much. I think the blue collar livelihood and slightly cheaper cost made the Remingtons easier to sell around here.
