That is a downfall of electing a president that isn't a shooter himself but he does have a couple of offspring that do shoot. I hope Don Jr. can talk some sense into him.

What makes you think that Trump doesn’t shoot? He has a concealed carry license.
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first
There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self. -Ernest Hemingway The man who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything.-- Edward John Phelps
It sounds to me like he's a fence straddler at worst, not a rabid anti.
I think you are quite correct. He was a successful president of the FOP. He has good history of practical LEO background and more recent executive and leadership experience. Canterbury would be working for #45, not a board of directors.
The proposed appointee appears to be a viable (confirmable) candidate.
Perhaps we could compare him to AG William Barr, who has (so far) shown himself to be a good fit for the situation. I had serious doubts about his selection, since his Ruby Ridge history, but his current direction is spot on.
Let's continue to be suspicious, but see what can be done.
“You must endeavour to enjoy the pleasure of doing good. That is all that makes life valuable.” Robert E. Lee, in a letter to his invalid wife.
Trump is going to lean whichever way he thinks it benefits him the most on guns. If he thinks he can win re-election by being strongly pro-Second Amendment.....like he did to win in 2016.....then he will. But, it cannot be denied that he has said some things should make ANY Second Amendment supporter nervous, and this pick for the head of the ATF is another one of those things that should make one wonder.
I do not think he is going to sell us out and join the gun grabbers, but I also believe he is not as strong a supporter of the Second as I wish he was. But, the most important thing of all is that it's him and not Hillary that we're talking about........there was no doubt where she should.
I think the jury is still out on this pick. FOX News: Trump worked closely with Canterbury on sentencing reform legislation passed Nov. 2018. The measure, which granted leniency on minimum sentencing rules for some drug offenses and expanded rehabilitation programs, enjoyed rare bipartisan support and was backed by the ACLU, according to Politico. Canterbury has been vocal in his Second Amendment support, testifying July 2009 before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who had worked closely with police as a Manhattan prosecutor early in her career: “I want no mistake to be made,” Canterbury testified. “I take a back seat to no one in my reverence for the Second Amendment. In fact, if I thought that Judge Sotomayor’s presence on the court posed a threat to my Second Amendment right, I would not be supporting her here today.”
