Need to ship 2 rifles to the same FFL here in California. Who is the most practical shipper to use for this, nowadays, USPS? Planning to ship one in its original factory box and one in a Doskocil case, both together in a larger carton. Any tips, advice?

thanks.

I don’t know about California laws.
I’ve shipped several rifles to an FFL in he past six months.
I put a copy of the FFL in the box with the gun.
Packed in a plain cardboard box over a hard case.
Took to usps and shipped.
They never asked if it was a gun and I never told them.
And I had a copy of the ffl in my pocket, in case it was needed.

Fed regulations mean little in CA. At the Fed level anyone may ship a gun to anyone in the same state. CA changed that by requiring background checks on everyone buying. No FFL is required by the Feds.

USPS has always been cheapest for individuals shipping on their own.

The box should not reveal that it contains a firearm.

Why? So the receiving FFL knows his/her license is current?

In case USPS opens the package to inspect; which they can do if they choose to.

No FFL is required under Federal law at either end of the transaction!!! Get it?

Another question... so when did USPS start enforcing CA firearms law? Postal Inspectors are Federal Law Enforcement agents.

I shipped one out a few months back through usps with no issue but when the dealer received it the buyer contacted me that he needed a copy of my drivers licence,so I texted it and all was good. Was this just this dealer or are most wanting that?

Some idiot FFLs insist on it... but there is no legal requirement. How can they verify anything from the license? And why should they? All they have to do is enter the name and address of the seller.
