I ain't seen wooden bed pick ups in awhile like back in the days growing up in maine.

Still gotta be trucks rolling like that in the frozen northern wastelands.

PICS??????

I guarantee that if there is a pre 2000 Yota in my neck of the woods, it will have a wood or steel flat. And, the frame rails have been plated, patched, or replaced. No 2000's available around here, Toyota bought them & crushed them. They replaced some frames, but the buy back was he trend.
Actually, a good move by them. They really didn't have to a damn thing. Doubt if the old big 3 would have.

LIKE .

Budget 10K'ish ?

Used toyotas are way overpriced - Agree .

Keeping my old 98 Ford Lariat truck 180K very well maintained - no way I'd sell for what others like it are selling for . It has new radiator [ford dealership] , complete front end rebuild , shocks transmission & differtial fluid changed every 50K miles .
Charged the AC a week ago for the first time , had to turn the AC off this morning too cold in high 80* temps - had to open back sliding window .

Friend of mine owns a garage he drives the same truck I have except 4.6 engine , he tells me of the high dollar valvetrain jobs he does on the newer fords .

One friend had a 97 f-150 for towing a heavy trailer 5-6 days per work week - 330+K miles running fine until his son wrecked/destroyed it [no maintenance] , another guy Gene 450K on a 97 or 98 when differential went out .

Mainly I want a second vehicle incase my ole ford breaks down that way I'll have a way to attend to it . I'm planning on moving to no mans land arkansas or missouri sometime within a year or so and will be WAY AWAY FROM TOWN when I find the land I want .

I drove a friend to the airport years ago in her Rav4 - 4wd maybe a 2000 model year - she told me to drive it around because it sat parked a lot - I did and really liked the little bugger . Seen some of them with bigger tires more offroad capable - would make a nice daily driver .

LOL, that's a good one, but you'd be surprised.
here is my old girl.... Putting flame suit on NOW.

I DO miss her. Out of 2 rangers, one nissan hard body, 1 F150, 2 dodge ram diesels. which I still currently own.
The Ridgeline was the most comfortable and practical for every day use.
Yeah, I have my cummins to tow my 5th wheel or dump trailers. But getting kids from school , lowes or HD runs, long distance hunting and fishing trips in comfort... with a lockable trunk that can be used as an ice chest? Hands down the best every day truck.
sure Tacos will out wheel it, but I if you live in the city, your truck will be used for city driving 99.9% of the time and I'm not about show or having to prove something.
I don't know if the OP has sat in tacomas, but I hate their seating position. To me, It is like a go cart. I'm not in teenager any more.
Had a friend come down to visit once and I drove him back home to Portland , out of Palm Springs. 1000 miles one way. we did in 18 hours straight and he likes comfort....he drives Lexus LS. He couldn't believe the comfortable seat of the Ridgeline. So if you have 3000 miles to go, its at least worth a shot.

I’ve only sat in a few Tacomas, and I may as well have been sitting in a Vette. My legs were straight out in front of me, and my azz down in a hole. If that’s some folks’ idea of a “cross country vehicle”, more power to ‘em...

Yep. Give me a Ford SuperCrew any day of the week. Or an Expedition.

That, or you might just check the box in the top left corner of the page that says don't show duplicates.

I hated on the Hondas for a while, then the wife wanted a Passport and we ended up with one. 2014 I think.

It ain’t half bad.

18-20 mpg, diff locker of sorts, 4wd, very comfortable, pretty roomy inside, and Honda’s boring azz reliable driving experience.

A good front bumper, little taller tires, I can see where the Ridgeline could be great if you ain’t towing much. Not even sure if the make a lift?

It’s like Subaru’s bigger, slightly less gay, cousin.

To this day I regret selling my red 1977 4wd Subaru wagon. A little 4 banger that drove like a champ.

Fold down the back seat there was plenty of room for sleeping, and also fit a construction sized wheelbarrow

Dre,

The one my buddy had (which was all but gifted to him) got horrible mileage. I mean it was like 14 or so.

Couldn't tow worth a fugk. Not horribly comfortable due to size (that's what she said) and a bed that just... wasn't a bed.
