Won a gun at a local raffle I have no use for, dealer is willing to give me the value towards anything I want to order. Have been thinking of setting up a 10mm with a Micro Red Dot for hunting and playing around. I mostly hunt with my .44 revolvers if I take a handgun. What are the pros and cons of both the Springfield vs the Glock?

Glock 40 MOS would be my choice. They work and are accurate. The jury is still out on the Springfield.

I was looking at Glock 20,40 and Springfield XDM. I went to a very very well stocked gun store yesterday and handled a Dan Wesson Bruin. WOW

The new Springfield longslide 10mm 1911 with optical sight is badass if you got the spare change to afford it.

I only have 100 rounds through my Glock 40 but all is good. Easy to shoot well, very accurate and holds plenty.

The MOS on the G40 is probably your quickest turn key route to a MRS style sight. I don't think the XD is going to be conducive to an easy swap.
Please God, give me some good tags this year....

You could get a HK USP 10mm and have something better.

Dammmit.......Wasn't aware. That would be my pick. If you were blindfolded and not biased....I think most would pick the XD vs the G20 on ergos pretty quickly

Shot Glocks for 15yrs but never could get used to the grip shape or angle. Switched to XD's 13yrs ago and never looked back. Bought a pair of the 10mm's when they first came out and gave one to Dad. Converted my 5" Tactical to .460Rowland.

CraigC, which mount did you use? Picked up the XDM today.

Glock 35 MOS in 40 S&W Grab a 9 and a sig barrel while you’re at it. Lighter/smaller load out and mine has been great on deer.

What are the pros and cons of both the Springfield vs the Glock? Not sure which .44 revolvers you are using, but Evolution Gun Works and raptor-eng.com make some micro red dot mounts that will work on some revolvers without drilling any new holes. That may be a way to play with and learn about micro red dots without having to invest in a new gun. (I understand you have a "free gun" coming, but this would free you up to pick another revolver or a long gun.) The revolvers might be kinder to a micro red dot than being mounted on a pistol slide, especially a 10mm running hot loads. Just another option.

1050-1100 with 180s. I’ve used gold dots, XTP’s and one with a cast.
