I managed to break my Bolt lock on my m77 tang safety tonight while switching stocks. I can not find an early model Bolt lock anywhere. Would it be possible to use the new model bolt lock on my rifle? Or does anyone know where I can order the correct bolt lock. Searched the web but can not come up with 1. After looking at it further, I see it rotates to lock the bolt. So I need to find the original part. Any leads would be appreciated.

I believe the later style will fit in place of the early but it won't lock the bolt. The right sized clip from hardware or auto parts store will work.
For a while, Ruger used the new non-locking "lock" with grooved bolts. After a while they didn't machine the groove. Just something to watch for if you ever want to switch bolts.
I'll PM if I find a lock or not in my few remaining parts.

What's it made of? That looks like an evening's project with a couple of files and maybe a Dremel tool to me!

Steel. What grade/hardening I don't know. I would think mild steel would work, but it wouldn't hurt to use something that could be tempered.
