I am not currently reloading. I went to Cabelas to pick up a box of Nosler factory ammo for my .264 Win mag and it was $70.00 The high price of ammo is one reason I don't shoot the gun much.

I am thinking about getting an inexpensive Lee hand held press. If I already have the brass, how much does it cost to load a box of 264 Win mag considering primers, powder (purchased by the pound) and bullets (purchased in the 50 or 100 count boxes).

Just curious how much I could save.

Thanks,

Dan

You can load your own 264 Magnums for around $10 a box.You can load around a 100 rounds for the 264 with a pound of powder.I usually shoot Nosler seconds at around $30 a hundred.$4 for a hundred primers. So 5 boxes of 20 factory x $70 = $350, Well worth investing in good equipment.

Simple really, figure 3-4 cents for primer. Divide 7000 by the number of grains per charge which will give you the number of rounds per pound. Divide cost per pound by number of rounds which will give cost of powder per round. Then cost of bullet of choice.

Example
Primer .03
Powder 7000/53= 132
Powder cost 28.00/132= 21 cents
Premium Bullet 115 BT= 33 cents
Total cost per round excluding brass 57 cents.
Cost to buy factory 1.75
Savings 1.18 per.

I made a little Excel spreadsheet to calculate the costs with different components. It is REALLY primitive and simple (much like its creator) but if you want copy PM me.
