I managed to break my Bolt lock on my m77 tang safety tonight while switching stocks. I can not find an early model Bolt lock anywhere. Would it be possible to use the new model bolt lock on my rifle? Or does anyone know where I can order the correct bolt lock. Searched the web but can not come up with 1. Would call Ruger, but closed to Monday..

After looking at it further, I see it rotates to lock the bolt. So I need to find the original part. Any leads would be appreciated.

I believe the later style will fit in place of the early but it won't lock the bolt. The right sized clip from hardware or auto parts store will work.
For a while, Ruger used the new non-locking "lock" with grooved bolts. After a while they didn't machine the groove. Just something to watch for if you ever want to switch bolts.
I'll PM if I find a lock or not in my few remaining parts.

Simple piece. Should not be hard to fabricate.
Presumably you have tried Gun Parts Corp and Jack First Distributors? Ebay?

What's it made of? That looks like an evening's project with a couple of files and maybe a Dremel tool to me! Jerry

Steel. What grade/hardening I don't know. I would think mild steel would work, but it wouldn't hurt to use something that could be tempered.
Polish and cold blue and done.
