Its not the color that is important but the quality of the waterproof material. If you are facing a foot or more, I add snowshoes - and yes even in the mountains.

I have the brushed camo and the Loden. Loden is noisy as heck . The snow I used them in last year did not stick to them. I have never used the brushed in the snow but they are less noisy walking thru the short greenbriers. But the brush material gets grabbed by the briars unlike the loden that glides right thru them.
