That would be ironic for me if student load debt were cancelled.
I graduated from college 40 years ago, with a 4 year degree.
Back then, we had the idea that you should work your way through school. I worked construction during summers, and I worked in restaurants when school was in.
Never borrowed a dime.
But, today, I drive an 18 wheeler and pay plenty in federal tax.
So, I, who worked my ass off to pay for my college, will now get to pay for these current kids, as I work my ass off in my blue collar job.
Look up "irony" in the dictionary you will see my name.

Here’s a question. Can he legally do that? At what point is he not allowed to forgive an owed debt? While he’s at it, Can he forgive everyone’s credit card debt? Mortgages? Car loans? Yeah! Why should the stoonts get all the freebies? Gimme dat! Gimme dat!

The Govt controls the money, so they can control what the colleges teach, how much the colleges get, who has to pay it back, and eventually, what you have to study/major in order to get it. They almost have education as screwed up as healthcare. Won’t be long and you’ll have private corporations buying out old religious-based schools to run them for a profit, and you’ll have the Govt controlling school tuition/loan amounts like they do Medicare/Medicaid, and demanding Govt take over college education. It’s amazing that people will give up ALL their freedom (168 hours a week), simply in hope of not having to work for what they have for 40 hours a week. Folks want to spend their entire life living like a 12 year-old ward of the state...

My parents worked hard and lived modestly so they could pay 7 kids’ way through college. All 7 of us graduated without any loans as a result of my parents’ sacrifice. My friends parents bought beach houses, BMWs, and outfitted the kids in designer clothes. We had Fords and hand-me-downs. My friends took loans for college and my parents paid full price with a check. I respect the hell out of them for that. Bernie wants to reward the less responsible folks.
Remember, impoverished people typically get need-based aid, including grants. I went to an expensive private college that “matches need.” It was not poor people graduating with the most loans. It was upper middle-income people who hadn’t saved.

Maybe they’d be better off to just wipe out credit card debt. Or mortgages. Or just ban ink pens so people don’t sign up for things they can’t afford.
