I pretty much agree with most of what you say, except for the last few sentences. I think Trump thought that he could make Washington work as he'd made his businesses work, by people doing what he said to do. Sorry, but that was nothing but wishful thinking. Politics in Washington do not work that way.

The whole concept of him playing chess is ridiculous, as I'm not sure he knows what he's playing. My biggest gripe is this.......he campaigned and was elected on the promise to do something about the illegal immigration problem, and when took over the office as president, he should have started issuing Executive Orders doing such things as putting troops on the border, rounding up illegals, deporting them, in other words, playing hardball. Yes, he would have faced opposition from liberal judges, the Democrats, and the GOP......but I think he would have showed the American people that he was actually serious about doing something.

Trying to place the problem on illegal immigration on the Democrats is meaningless, as everyone knows they don't care, and want the illegals for their votes. The Democrats don't care, they aren't going to suddenly change their minds and build a wall, or support any legislation that will affect the Hispanic voting base. He should just forget about the Democrats, and for the most part, the GOP as well, and do whatever he can and hope that he can get his base back in line on this.

How can people that follow politics day and night, not understand politics?

If you want to place blame put it where it belongs on Mitch McConnell and his merry band of RINOS. For two long years he managed to thwart everything Trump tried on immigration and healthcare. Even the RINOS all promised if they ever got the chance they'd repeal and replace the ACA but when they did they turned their back on it.

You're all going to have to wake up and understand that whoever you elect is not going to be able to keep his promises unless you give him conservative majorities in both houses. If we truly want the swamp drained We are going to have to pull the plug.

Do you know much about the deportation and asylum process? It take years to deport someone and that’s if they have serious felony conviction.
