Have been in Namibia for 12 days. Am taking today off. With three other hunters all of whom are shooting 300 Wins. Two using 200 grain Swift AF @ 2850 and one Hornady factory ELDX. Total take includes 25-30 zebra, giraffe, oryx, kudu, impala, black & blue WB, etc. With same shot placement the animals react no differently than those on which I have used 270-130’s @ 3000+. Placement is single biggest factor. The AF’s penetration is greater than the ELDX but no surprise there.
I continue to want a lighter shorter rifle. Next trip 20” SA likely a CM. That plus a 416 with Tia Shoemaker loads. And so it goes.

Convinced a bore of 26-28, bullet 125-150, vel 2750-3000 works. Max 30-06 with 168’s. No shots over 300, none. Shorter and lighter better cause it should be in hunter’s hands not on a sling. Great trigger. 3-9 or 2.5-10 scope. Very good bullets. Plenty of penetration.

Are you guys trying to get enough zebra to carpet your homes?
Sounds like a heck of a time.
If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ...
